Can't
Get Arrested
Synopsis:
Aerospace
engineer Clint Lowell is a true, old-fashioned “nice guy”. He’s worked for the same company since college.
He’s bought a nice house in a suburban neighborhood.
He adores his pretty wife Patty who’s an aspiring news
anchor. He
doesn’t drink, doesn’t curse.
He always follows the rules and never pushes the
envelope. Heck, he even likes Barry Manilow. Clint’s life is nearly perfect, in a stifling sort of
way. What he really
wants is to leave his mark on the world and achieve a lifelong
dream.
Clint’s
close to achieving that goal. He
and his partner William are almost finish perfecting an
invention that would revolutionize the aerospace industry.
Things start to fall apart when William is arrested for
embezzling money from the company.
Then, Clint is fired under suspicion of being an
accomplice. With an
FBI investigation ongoing against him, Clint quickly finds there
are no prospects for new employment.
Then Patty leaves him when he fails to secure an
interview for her with the boss who just fired him – that and
the fact that he no longer has any money.
Even his prized “Copacabana” tape gets destroyed.
Soon, the bills are stacking up and Clint’s home is
facing foreclosure. If
only he and William could complete their invention, all his
troubles would be resolved.
The only problem -- William’s in jail and Clint is not.
Thus begins a life of crime that could only happen to
Clint Lowell.
Despite
awkward attempts at shoplifting, bank robbery, and even a
high-speed freeway police chase, good guy Clint cannot get
arrested. In fact, in his bungled attempts to do bad, he inadvertently
interferes with the plans of real criminals in his path --
becoming the town hero. Meanwhile,
always hungry for a story that will make her career, Patty sets
out to expose Clint’s ultimate plan.
Clint’s
attempts to become imprisoned ironically set him on a path of
personal freedom. Clint
ultimately escapes from his own stuffy and pre-planned existence
(the true prison), allowing himself a life of spontaneity,
success and finally, a new romance.
